Bachelor Nutrition & Dietetics
DAA - Provisional Accredited Practising Dietitian
Deonn Burgess is truly a dietitian committed to the Healthy Eats mantra. Deonn is the enthusiastic second-in-charge, to the principal dietitian.
In her own words....
"I fell in love with food and cooking from a young age and my interest was further enhanced while completing a Certificate I in Hospitality in 2011. I became interested in how the food we eat affects our body. so decided to become a nutrition expert and study a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) at the University of Newcastle."
"I believe in a holistic approach to health and nutrition; as everything in our body is connected in one way or another. Food not only nourishes the body but also nourishes the soul. "
Deonn is a great, personable dietitian, who is enjoying the challenges of private practice. Working in this environment is allowing her to individually help clients strive for better health and not be restricted by the overwhelming environment of the hospital and acute illness. The more relaxed nature of private practice also means the client is heard, and can take their time to explain what is going on for them, and how they see things could be different. Deonn is motivated in seeing progress in her clients; including developments in their health and nutrition goals, and changes in their perception of themselves including feeling healthier and happier.
Deonn enjoys working with a variety of clients, including those with diabetes, weight management concerns, aged nutrition and oncology patients. Deonn strives to motivate and empower the Healthy Eats' clients to achieve their health goals through realistic changes, moderation and balanced choices.
